Luminous silks, gilded velvets, rustic linen, dyed and block printed by hand.
Art to wear, home décor and more – scarves, shawls, pillows, bedcovers, wall hangings….
The white fabric is dyed in several dye baths to get the right color. I then print the motif with wood blocks that I cut out according to my design and drawings.
The velvet is printed with metal pigments – gold, silver, copper, bronze - in the tradition of Fortuny, Venice.
The silk and linen are printed with textile inks.
The wall hangings are a combination of painting, stenciling, printing.
All my materials are eco friendly.
I enjoy mixing old world techniques with ongoing self taught explorations.
I draw my inspiration from nature, mythology and the various cultures where I have lived and worked: From traditional art and Zen studies in Japan, to Italy and France with its renaissance culture, and now Crestone with its powerful wideness and spiritual silence.
My work is included in private, corporate and museum collections in Europe and USA.
